Renewing passports is a procedure that at some points of time everyone has to face. A standard passport needs to be renewed after a span of 10 years and for the minors the span is 16 years and for younger passport holders the span is five years but however, every passport needs to be expired after a certain time. The passport card is known to do the same basic job as the passport book itself. It can be renewed at the same time you renew your passport.
The passport card is easier to deal with; it is more compact document that you can carry along with you instead of the standard passport in your wallet. This is very much handy for the people who travel frequently across the borders of the US states. However, the pass card is not a valid document for traveling in and out of the country. For traveling out of the country or returning to the country back from any other country, you need the standard passport. While renewing your passport you can ask for the passport card even by the email for a mere charge of $20.
All US citizens can apply for the passport card whether or not he or she is the holder of the standard passport book. The current passport holders can apply for the passport card through mail for which he or she needs to fulfill certain criteria failing to which he may be still eligible for the passport card by no more via the internet but by meeting the officer personally and meeting his queries with satisfactory answers. These criteria and all the required information can be found if you search the related websites available over the net.
The minimum time that is required to get hold of the passport card is generally four to six weeks which is more or less similar to the time taken for renewal of the standard passport. However, the time can be brought down to 2 to 3 weeks if the applicant prefers to use the expedited service. The applicant will be handed over the passport card through first class mail and there is no overnight delivery option.
The passport card has opened up a great way for the border identification method. The advanced technology that has made a built in chip which is also called the RFID chip to be attached with the card that allows the security personals at the border to scan the card and extract all the needful information about the individual. The radio frequency id chip helps the guards with the access to a secured database where he can read all the information about the owner of the card. The card itself does not contain any information that makes it completely secured and tamper proof.
The pass card resembles the credit cards that are designed for the utilization of the laser to read out the information about the user of the card; this helps to prevent forgery and counterfeiting to a great extent. This card is covered with special sleeves to prevent it from being scanned by unauthorized persons when it is not in use. The pass card is the most secured method than any form of personal identification proof available.

Gay marriage is a topic for which you are slated to find a number of varied opinions. Depending on who you ask about the concept and practice of gay marriage, you are most likely to get a different response based upon that aspect alone. Some people are completely for gay marriage. They believe that just because you are gay does not mean that you should have any less privileges than anyone else. People who share this opinion feel that just like marriage in the traditional sense is something that is offered, also, so should gay marriage be offered to everyone. They feel that the ability to carry out this act should not be for the government to decide, especially since their answer is no in so many states. The feel that all people should have the right to love and marry whoever they would like, despite heir sexual orientation.

Some do not agree with the idea and concept of gay marriage at all. They think that gay marriage is not a type of union that was intended to be made. Some of these people just do not agree with the type of relationship that is formed to begin with, so they object the idea of gay marriage. They believe that there should not be any kin of government freedom that allows people to take this type of relationship to the next level. They believe that the government should continue to do what they can in order to ensure that this type of marriage is not seen to its fruition. They do not necessarily all feel that it is right for the government to discriminate against them, but there are aspects of the law that are just not to be gone against.

Then there are some people who find themselves on the fence when it comes to gay marriage. Although they know for sure that this is a union ceremony that they would not personally take part in themselves, they are a bit unsure as to whether or not gay marriage should be allowed. Some have no opinion on the notion of gay marriage because they feel that they do not have the capacity to judge. They feel that the only time there should be judgement that takes place is in that final moment at judgment day. They believe it is then when we will learn if the action that they have so taken was wrong or right. Until then, they choose to keep their comments to themselves.

Some people say that the fight for gay rights is long from being over. They say that they have done a great deal thus far, but they do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. They say that they have reached a point where they are not quite sure what more it is that they can do in order to be able to win. On the other hand, some people are taken aback by the fact that this has to be a win or lose thing. They feel as though there should be no need to even go to these extreme lengths. They feel that there should be no need for competition of any kind when it comes to gay rights. They feel that it is unnecessary for something like this to be established, but that it should already be a given.

One of the ways that people have been working towards obtaining victory in the fight for gay rights is by making their voices heard. Every moment of the day, and every opportunity that they are granted to speak out on the issues that are near and dear to their heart, they do so. This is one of the ways in which there is sure to be a message that is brought across, without even having to gather as a group and protest. This has been a viable option that many members of the gay community has had to utilize, but the feeling is that there does not always have to be a large platform that is laid out in front of them in order for them to put in the work needed to have their voices heard on establishing gay rights.

Some people tend to believe that it is only those who are members of the gay community that partake in the fight for gay rights. Nevertheless, there are others who believe in this ongoing fight, as well. They feel that it is important for them to lay down their mark, and stand up for what they believe in. They feel that the world does not always revolve around them, so they do not have to be a member of the gay community in order to stand up for what they feel is right. In fact, although many of the people who share this viewpoint may not have the exact same sexual orientation as the people for whose rights they are fighting for, they still have such a strong connection, that they still feel as though they are members of the gay community despite this detail.

One of the gay rights laws that people are most pleased to have been established in a few states is the right for members of the gay community to marry. As there is even a single state that adds such a law to their state legislation, many members of the gay community are proud to see that this has transpired. They are thoroughly pleased with the fact that they were able to get their word across to at least some of the governing bodies. Although establishing such gay rights laws in other states is a major work in progress, they are pleased that there are some strides that are being moved forward. With that, they just wish that other states will follow the example that some of the other states were not afraid to do. They hope that they will live to see the day where Congress passes a law that states that all people may get married in the United States, despite their sexual orientation or gender identity.

One of the other major gay rights laws that people have been quite happy to see passed are the gay rights laws that relate to hate crime. Many are pleased with the fact that countries are make those positive strides forward and are seeing fit that people recognize that it is completely unacceptable that people are to carry out or threaten to carry out acts of violence merely because of their sexual orientation. Although there have been major strides in this regard in the form of the federal gay rights laws that have been composed throughout the years, there has been a major step forward just this recent year. The United States government has recently raised the stakes when it comes to the gay rights laws pertaining to hate crimes. The way in which this has been done is with the new federal gay rights laws that were established by the government in order to allow for tougher penalties for those who committed such a hate crime. In addition to the tougher penalties that have been initiated, there is also a clause that has been initiated in this act of the United States legislation that says that hate crimes that are committed that are motivated by a person’s sexual orientation or belief to belong to the gay community, are to be also recorded in the annual hate crime statistics. This component of the new gay rights laws is featured in the Hate Crimes and Prevention Act.
